The Glamping Entrepreneur - Entry 5: RV-olutionizing Your Workspace: Tackling Standup Logistics for a Seamless Mobile Office

Now that I am committed to my quest of moving my office nomadic and into an RV in the near future, my next obstacle is how to arrange an office space that is easy to transfer from my home office to an RV space. It needs to be quick, easy, and seamless to set up so that I don't waste any productivity time. This requires me to employ logistics, which can be a daunting task. However, with careful planning and organization, I feel I can create an efficient system that will allow me to seamlessly transition from one workspace to another without losing any valuable work time. By investing in portable equipment and organizing my workspace in a manner that allows for easy disassembly and reassembly, I can ensure that my transition is as smooth as possible.

For me, it starts with the perfect standup desk. The perfect standup desk needs to be lightweight and easy to move around while also being sturdy enough to support my laptop and two external monitors. And let's not forget about adjustability - being able to switch between sitting and standing throughout the day is a game-changer for productivity.

Having some knowledge of the health benefits of standup desks - I ordered them for office managers when I worked at a securities firm - I wanted to refresh myself on the benefits and how to manage my workflow to get those maximum benefits without feeling tired from standing all day (not recommended BTW). This article helped me figure that out.

Now size. I had to fit two 24" monitors plus my laptop. Then add a wireless keyboard and mouse. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack! And then the final requirement for nomadic RV living, it had to be easy to store during travel. I recently found a desk that can handle my setup perfectly, but it took some searching. Like Goldilocks, now that I have everything set up just right, I can focus on making my nomadic office space truly mine.

My mobile office toolkit - Having all of the necessary tools at my fingertips is crucial for me to stay productive on the road. That's why I always make sure everything is well organized in an easy-to-carry mobile office kit. I love using a great plastic toolbox. It does the trick. It might sound silly, but it really does make life easier!

I'm still working on going completely paperless (see previous Glamping Entrepreneurer Entry 2 Blog post), but honestly, going paperless is a work-in-progress. I truly don't want to add a printer to this nomadic office configuration but still investigating.

When all the logistics are taken care of, RV-ing will become my go-to for finding the perfect view for my nomadic office space. It gives me the freedom to explore new surroundings without worrying about logistics getting in my way. Plus, who doesn't love an easy solution?

So even if you're not downsizing your office to an RV space but like me and crave efficiency in your life, make sure you prioritize logistics when setting up your nomadic workspace or any workspace. Trust me - you'll enjoy working more and it'll make your life so much simpler!
